Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water) — Peptide Reconstitution Diluent

Bacteriostatic Water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) is the standard diluent used for reconstituting lyophilized research peptides. The benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits microbial growth, allowing multi-dose use of reconstituted peptides for up to 28–30 days when refrigerated.

Why BAC Water for Peptides

• Preserves multi-dose vials up to 28–30 days after reconstitution
• Benzyl alcohol prevents microbial contamination
• Isotonic — compatible with subcutaneous injection
• Suitable for most peptide reconstitution (GLP-1s, GHRPs, BPC-157, TB500, etc.)

When NOT to Use BAC Water

• IGF-1 LR3: Use 0.6% acetic acid for initial reconstitution
• Semax (intranasal): Use 0.9% saline instead
• Neonates: Benzyl alcohol is contraindicated in newborns

Reconstitution Guide

• Add BAC water slowly along the vial wall (never directly on powder)
• Swirl gently — never shake
• Allow solution to sit 5 minutes to fully dissolve
• Standard ratios: 1 mL per 5 mg vial = 5 mg/mL; 2 mL per 10 mg vial = 5 mg/mL

Storage

Store at room temperature or 2–8°C, protected from light. Sealed: 3-year shelf life.
