Mechanism of Action
GLP-1/GIP Dual Agonist · SURMOUNT Trials

Tirzepatide is a 39-aa peptide with balanced agonism at GLP-1R and GIPR. GIP co-agonism potentiates GLP-1-mediated satiety while reducing nausea, enabling dose escalation to levels not tolerable with GLP-1 alone. Dual mechanism enhances appetite reduction, insulin sensitivity, and adipose remodeling.[1]
