Central coenzyme of energy metabolism — fuel for sirtuins and mitochondria.

Purity ≥98.7% HPLCFormat Lyophilized powderVial 3 mlResearch use only

Overview

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a fundamental coenzyme present in all living cells, serving two critical functions: as a redox carrier in cellular energy metabolism (accepting and donating electrons in oxidative phosphorylation), and as a substrate for a growing class of enzymes including sirtuins (SIRT1–7), poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases (PARPs), and CD38/CD157 ectoenzymes.

NAD+ levels decline significantly with age (by up to 50% between young adulthood and middle age) and are associated with impaired mitochondrial function, reduced DNA repair capacity, and metabolic dysfunction. Research into NAD+ supplementation focuses on its potential to activate sirtuins (particularly SIRT1 and SIRT3), promote mitochondrial biogenesis, enhance DNA repair, modulate circadian rhythms, and extend healthspan in model organisms.

Research applications

  • Sirtuin (SIRT1–7) activation and longevity pathway research
  • Mitochondrial biogenesis and oxidative phosphorylation studies
  • PARP-mediated DNA repair pathway research
  • Cellular senescence, aging, and NAD+ decline models
  • Circadian rhythm regulation and metabolic homeostasis research
  • CD38 NADase activity and age-related NAD+ depletion studies

Handling & storage

Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Store at 2–8 °C on receipt; protect from heat, light and moisture, and avoid excessive agitation. If reconstitution is required for laboratory work, use sterile technique — bacteriostatic water, or 0.6% acetic acid for low-solubility peptides. Protocols vary by research application.

Research use only. Research-grade, high-purity material (≥98.7% HPLC) supplied strictly for laboratory and analytical purposes. Not for human or animal consumption; not a drug or dietary supplement; not approved by the FDA, EMA or other agencies. To be handled only by qualified professionals in appropriate facilities, under all applicable laws. A certificate of analysis may be available on request.
