Semaglutide is a GLP-1 analog with 94% homology to human GLP-1 and a C18 fatty diacid chain enabling albumin binding (~7-day half-life). It activates GLP-1 receptors in the hypothalamus and brainstem, reducing appetite, slowing gastric emptying, and improving glycemic control via glucose-dependent insulin secretion.^[1]
