Overview
AOD9604 (Anti-Obesity Drug 9604) is a modified synthetic fragment of human growth hormone corresponding to amino acids 177–191, with a tyrosine residue added at the N-terminus (Tyr-hGH177-191). It was specifically engineered to preserve the lipolytic activity of the HGH C-terminal region while eliminating the growth-promoting, IGF-1-stimulating, and insulin resistance-inducing effects associated with full-length HGH.
AOD9604 activates the beta-3 adrenergic receptor (β3-AR) on adipocytes to stimulate intracellular lipolysis via cAMP elevation, without stimulating IGF-1 production or inducing hyperglycemia. It has received GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status from the FDA for food and supplement applications and was evaluated in multiple clinical trials for obesity treatment, providing a strong human safety data foundation for research use.
