DSIP
Delta sleep-inducing peptide — studied in sleep depth and stress.
Overview
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) originally isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits in EEG-defined delta-wave sleep states by the Monnier group in 1977. Despite its name, its functions extend well beyond simple sleep induction.
DSIP demonstrates the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and has been shown to modulate the secretion of multiple anterior pituitary hormones including LH, GH, and ACTH, suggesting a role in neuroendocrine regulation beyond sleep architecture. It also demonstrates antioxidant properties and stress-response attenuation in preclinical models. Its amphiphilic structure and blood-brain barrier permeability make it a research model for CNS-penetrant peptide delivery.

- Sleep architecture modulation and delta wave induction studies
- Neuroendocrine axis (LH, GH, ACTH) modulation research
- Stress response attenuation and cortisol regulation models
- Antioxidant activity and oxidative stress protection in neural tissue

Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Store at 2–8 °C on receipt; protect from heat, light and moisture, and avoid excessive agitation. If reconstitution is required for laboratory work, use sterile technique — bacteriostatic water, or 0.6% acetic acid for low-solubility peptides. Protocols vary by research application.
