Overview

Sermorelin is a synthetic analog of the first 29 amino acids of endogenous growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-29-NH2). It is the shortest fully active fragment of GHRH capable of binding to pituitary GHRH receptors and stimulating GH secretion through physiological feedback mechanisms of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis.

Unlike exogenous GH administration, sermorelin acts by stimulating the pituitary gland itself to produce and secrete GH, preserving the natural negative feedback loops that regulate GH levels. This property makes it a valuable tool in research examining age-related GH decline, GH deficiency models, and the pharmacodynamics of pituitary GH secretion.
