Product Overview

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences as a stabilized and bioavailable analog of the immunomodulatory tetrapeptide Tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg). It was designed with a Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide extension that significantly extends its half-life compared to native Tuftsin.

Selank is registered as an anxiolytic drug in Russia and Ukraine (as a nasal spray) and has been extensively studied for its ability to reduce anxiety without the sedation, tolerance, or dependence associated with benzodiazepines. Its mechanisms include modulation of BDNF expression, enhancement of serotonin and dopamine metabolism, and reduction of IL-6 expression. It also retains the immunomodulatory properties of Tuftsin through T-cell and NK cell activity regulation.
