Semax
Semax — Neuropeptide Research Compound
Semax is a heptapeptide analog of the ACTH(4-7) fragment, originally developed in Russia for stroke and cognitive enhancement research. It is one of the most well-studied nootropic peptides, with research spanning neurogenesis, neuroprotection, and cognitive enhancement.
Mechanism of Action
Semax increases BDNF, NGF, and VEGF expression in brain tissue, enhances dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission, reduces neuroinflammation, and upregulates genes involved in synaptic plasticity and memory formation.
Research Applications
- Cognitive enhancement and memory research
- Neuroprotection and stroke recovery models
- ADHD and attention deficit research
- Depression and anxiety (serotonin modulation)
- BDNF upregulation studies
Reconstitution
Reconstitute 30 mg vial with 5 mL saline or BAC water → 6 mg/mL (6,000 µg/mL).
Dosing Protocol (Research Reference)
- Dose: 300–600 µg per day (split doses)
- Intranasal: Preferred route — 1 drop per nostril ≈ 50 µg (varies by dropper)
- Subcutaneous: Also effective — draw appropriate volume on insulin syringe
- Cycle: 14 days on, 7 days off
Storage
Store lyophilized at −20°C. After reconstitution, refrigerate and use within 30 days. Protect from light.
