HCG
Mimics LH — stimulates endogenous testosterone production.
Overview
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is a glycoprotein heterodimeric hormone composed of an alpha subunit (shared with LH, FSH, and TSH) and a unique beta subunit that confers biological specificity. It binds with high affinity to the LH/CG receptor (LHCGR), activating the same downstream cAMP/PKA signaling pathway as luteinizing hormone (LH).
In males, HCG stimulates Leydig cells to produce testosterone and supports spermatogenesis, making it a key tool in studies of testicular steroidogenesis and the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. In females, it triggers ovulation and supports corpus luteum function. Research applications include fertility biology, steroidogenesis studies, and HPG axis pharmacology.
Research applications
- LH/CG receptor (LHCGR) pharmacology and cAMP/PKA signaling
- Testicular steroidogenesis and testosterone production research
- Leydig cell function and gonadotropin receptor studies
- Ovarian stimulation, follicular development, and ovulation research
- HPG axis dynamics and gonadotropin feedback research
- Fertility protocol and hypogonadism preclinical models

Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Store at 2–8 °C on receipt; protect from heat, light and moisture, and avoid excessive agitation. If reconstitution is required for laboratory work, use sterile technique — bacteriostatic water, or 0.6% acetic acid for low-solubility peptides. Protocols vary by research application.
