Oxytocin is a cyclic nonapeptide neurohormone (Cys-Tyr-Ile-Gln-Asn-Cys-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2, with a disulfide bridge between Cys1 and Cys6) synthesized primarily in the paraventricular and supraoptic nuclei of the hypothalamus.
